Visual Iron, Tactile Earth.
Visual Iron, Tactile Earth.
I have always been captivated by the dull luster and weathered patina of antique tin toys and well-used metalware. Yet, on a sensory level, I have always felt an aversion to the sharp, scraping sounds and cold touch of actual metal.
"How can the beautiful presence of metal be brought into everyday life in a gentler, more comforting way?" This question is the very foundation of my ceramics.
What meets the eye is a hard, industrial texture reminiscent of iron or tin. Yet, when cradled in your hands, you feel the soft, grounding warmth that only clay can provide.
A pleasant betrayal of sight and touch. Through the medium of clay, I seek to redefine the allure of metal.
